Shahab O. Vagefi bought the four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 3513 R St. N.W. in Burleith from John T. Brohel and Susan P. Brohel for $935,000 on Oct. 27.

The Brohels acquired the property for $910,000 in June 2007. The 1,660-square-foot house was built in 1925.

Vagefi is a senior associate at the U.S. growth capital team of The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm.

He previously was an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to that, he held the same position at JPMorgan H&Q.

He received his master's degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also graduated at Johns Hopkins University and the JHU School of Advanced International Studies.

Mr. Brohel has been the vice president of finance at RR Donnelley & Sons, a company in the publishing industry.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 4,179 home sales in Burleith during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $370,000.
