Andrew J. Loomis and Jennifer L. Russell bought a three-bedroom, three-bath home at 4718 Albemarle St. N.W. in Washington, D.C. from Leslie B. George and Manuel A. Miranda for $820,000 on Oct. 2.
George and Miranda paid $815,000 for the property in March 2007. The 1,551-square-foot house was built in 1937 in the American University Park neighborhood.
Loomis has been a senior conflict prevention adviser in the U.S. Department of State's Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization.
Before that, he was a visiting fellow at Center for a New American Security. He also worked as an adjunct professor at George Washington University and the College of William and Mary. In addition to that, he was a senior research analyst at The Brookings Institution and program manager at Search for Common Ground.
He received his Ph.D. in international relations from Georgetown University, his master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, his B.A. in peace and conflict studies from Juniata College and his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 4,212 home sales in Washington, D.C. during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $375,000.
